Gloverall X Les Basics
Spring Summer 20 sees heritage brand Gloverall collaborate for a second time with Les Basics. Showcasing brilliant menswear garments with our traditional silhouettes combined with Les Basics key experimental design elements.
Les Basics products are conceived in London and then produced in northern Portugal. The sourcing of high-quality fabrics is done close to the production location to try to ensure a lower carbon footprint for the company. Both Gloverall and Les Basics strive to achieve more sustainable and conscious product and manufacturing processes whilst also ensuring the products are durable and wearable from season to season.
The Spring Summer 20 Gloverall X Les Basics capsule collection consists of two outerwear pieces, a couple of lightweight tops and a versatile pair of utility-style shorts. Working with Les Basics we have created a collection of contemporary wardrobe essentials or as they like to call them ‘not-so-basic’ basics. Designed with comfort and practicality in mind, you can be sure to find a wardrobe staple, wearable from day to day depending on your chosen style of the day.
The Le Car Coat
For Spring Summer 20 a long-standing style in Gloverall’s history, the car coat has been reimagined with Les Basics. Creating our Le Car Coat using Gloverall’s heritage silhouette and crafting it in a new and innovative way showcasing Les Basics love for contrasting textures and colour-blocking.
Within this Spring jacket, there are two featured fabrics the top being a 100% textured nylon and the base fabric a cotton nylon mix. Both of the fabrics featured within this design are showerproof, lightweight and durable. Making them the ideal fabrics to craft your perfect breathable and transitional coat from. The coats are lightweight but also spacious enough layer up underneath making it wearable from season to season seamlessly.
The Le Short Hooded Coat
Our Le Short Hooded Coat< similar to the Le Car Coat focuses on varying textures and colour-blocking. Featuring a fashionable and sporty style funnel neckline connecting to a protective and durable three-piece hood, you are sure to be sheltered from any unexpected weather changes.
The jacket showcases two fabrics the same as the Le Car Coat a 100% textured nylon and a cotton nylon mix. Both repelling water and ensuring you have a functional coat which also delivers on style and comfort.
The Le Short Hooded Coat is available in two fantastic yet simple and understated colourways: the stone on navy and stone on stone. The jackets within this menswear collection both have raglan sleeves with sporty style elasticated cuffs. The concealed pockets in the side seams allow for a sleek and contemporary look, great for Spring-Summer.
Les Basics X Gloverall Key Spring Summer Pieces
This Spring-Summer season our capsule collection with Les Basics features key pieces ideal for creating the perfect capsule modular wardrobe. From our Gloverall X Les Basics men’s outerwear to short sleeve and long sleeve t-shirts there is something to satisfy your spring or summer fashion needs.
Prepare for the Summer sun in our Gloverall X Les Basics Le Short available in two classic colours stone and navy. The perfect addition to your capsule wardrobe, why not swap your denim shorts which can be too hot for summer with our cool cotton mix Le short. Style them with a plain white tee or go from day to night seamlessly by dressing them up with a beautiful linen shirt for a suave summer evening look.
Textured Nylon
The 100% textured nylon featured on the top layer of both the Le Car Coat and Le Short Hooded Coat will also be featured in our Gloverall SS20 Collection. Used for our spectacular stone coloured extremely lightweight version of our gender-neutral Severn Parka. This colourway is coming soon exclusively to our Gloverall website.
The textured nylon fabric is crafted in Japan by a leading textile manufacturer which was established in 1943. This manufacturer specialises in high-quality synthetic fibres and fabrics. They are also well-known for customising fabrics with various treatments, enabling the fabrics to be very visually unique and extremely tactile.
This premium fabric is great for the warm weather when we are experiencing intermittent spells of rain then sunshine during the transitional weather months. This fabric has aided us to produce brilliant lightweight jackets which are showerproof.
This particular fabric is C6 water repellent, which is a type of waterproofing that meets international environmental protection requirements. The crinkly texture is created by an original tumbling machine, the weave of the fabric has been pre-shrunk. Meaning the fabric is light and thin, due to this pre-shrinking the fabric becomes denser and the strength is increased. This ensures a lightweight but extremely durable and functional fabric that is still aesthetically beautiful.
The classic shapes and silhouettes within this collection combined with the edgy fabric and texture choices ensure we create key wardrobe staples. Enabling everyone to create an impressive look for Spring Summer. The pieces are all interchangeable and simplistic styles, each developed into more exciting desirable garments through the use of premium fabrics and textures.
