Gloverall X Sanders

Sanders shoes have a long spanning heritage of manufacturing in the UK, making in Northamptonshire since 1873. Tradition and craftsmanship have always been integral to the Gloverall brand, and our collection with Sanders showcases these core values.

Expanding on their workshop, the Sanders brothers William and Thomas opened their first factory in Rushden, Northamptonshire. Machinery developed by Charles Goodyear, better known for car tires, allowed the manufacturing process to speed up, and as war began the factory was producing almost 6000 pairs of army boots per week.

When visiting the factory we noticed an antique safe, which still houses items of note to Sanders. This is in fact the factories original safe from 1924, which is all that remains of the original factory, after it suffered a devastating fire that year.

The company is now in its 4th generation of Sanders, and is producing over 2000 pairs of the finest quality shoes and boots every week. We have selected from its core range to develop a capsule collection of footwear, with our first drop featuring the Aintree boot, a classic brogue derby boot in tan leather and the Holborn boot, a smarter take on the chukka boot in brown grain leather. Lastly the Cheltenham, drawing back to Sanders military heritage, the Cheltenham boot features a chunky black commando rubber sole and waxy chestnut leather upper.
